Everyone loves a thank you

Everyone loves a thank you.

A Proper thank you that makes the recipient feel all fuzzy and think ‘aw, that’s nice and thoughtful’.

How are you planning to say thank you to your best customers this Christmas?

Sorry, did we mention the C-word? Is it too early to turn our thoughts to the Yuletide spirit even before the ghoulish festival of Halloween is dead and buried in its spooky grave?  Well, the clocks have changed and they’ve got the Christmas trees out in our local M&S, so forgive us for thinking festive already.

Christmas is a time for giving, as they say, and in these digital days is a cheery Facebook post of the staff in Santa hats and Rudolf jumpers really enough to show your gratitude to the people who buy your stuff?

No it isn’t. They’ll want gifts.  Real, useful, physical gifts that they can use all year and that will bring a warm glow every time they use them. Something classy and longer lasting than a bottle of fizz.

With that in mind here are our top five ideas for a stylish corporate gift, that won’t break the bank, but might just win a few hearts.

The gift of paper.

Diaries, journals and notebooks are obvious because they’re great. We can source any brand including classics like Moleskines, and can print or emboss your logo with subtle style and class.

Scribbletastic.

We love Prodir Pens.  Not only are they great quality and pretty good value for money, but also they come with really nice packaging and their whole design ethos smacks of excellence – which is what you want to communicate too, isn’t it?

Sharp.

One of our favourite gifts we produced this year were these Leatherman multi-tools with branding on the blade.  Not only truly useful [see our blog post] but also an incisive and clear-cut promotional tool to boot.

Mugs.

Travel Mugs are right up there with re-useable shopping bags as more of an essential than a luxury and your customers will use them (and thank you) every day. [more mugging here]

Umbrellas.

Again obvious, but essential.  Not just because it rains a lot here, but also because people tend not to lose a good’un. So thank them by giving them a good’un.

Don’t delay and call Georgie today – Christmas is rushing into view. 02380 454628

Every little helps to save the nation

We’ve got an idea how to save the UK £380 million a year. Give everyone a new shopping bag with your company’s name on it.

Hear us out – this is sound economics.

Everyone in the UK now has to spend five pence for the privilege of having their over-priced shopping falling out the bottom of a gossamer-thin placcy bag proclaiming useless mottoes like ‘live well for less’ and ‘Like brands. Only cheaper’.

So the future is clearly a lovely, strong, ethically sourced and made, old school shopping bag. Like Grandma used to favour.  Except much more right on.

Trouble is they look a bit dear at the checkout compared to the virtually free plastic versions and we’re all too rich to care and too tight to spend a pound on a re-usable shopping bag.  So we’ll end up blowing millions on bagging the old way, but it’s a fool’s game and the planet can’t take it any more.

Let’s crunch the numbers.

The Beeb says that number of plastic bags given out by the seven major supermarkets in England exceeded 7.6 billion in 2014 - the equivalent of 140 bags per person.

At 5p a pop that’s £380 million quid that the nation will be free to spend on Rolexes and Jags and Louboutins and yachts - or perhaps your products - to give the economy a proper boost.

Or a slightly less impressive £7 quid per person.  But still, that’s one free bottle of half-decent Sancerre (or a couple of pints at Wetherspoons if that’s more your style) for every man, woman and child bleakly shuffling through Tesco’s mighty caverns of consumption every year.

Giving your customers a robust and sustainable shopping bag, emblazoned with your proud logo and messaging, is like buying them a couple of drinks.  And everyone loves someone who always gets their round in.

Every time they shop they’ll thank you. Not only for saving them a few pence, but for kick-starting the nation’s economy too.

Talk about every little helps.

It’s definitely time to give Georgie a call to discuss your company’s new bags.

Team Concise - A customer photo story

Team Concise - A Customer photo story

We are delighted to have printed all of their Helly Hansen clothing for their 2015 campaign, from t-shirts to foul weather gear, and as these superb pictures by Mark Lloyd prove, they look sensational

Team Concise was launched in August 2006, aimed at giving young British sailors a future in competitive offshore racing.  Run by Tony Dawson and Ned Collier Wakefield, the team races three high performance yachts at the highest levels. They have two class 40s - Concise 2 (Hedkandi) with an all-female crew and Concise 8 for the boys.

The latest weapon in their armoury is Concise 10 – a 70 foot trimaran which the team believe is one of the fastest off-shore racers in the UK, and visually she’s a show stopper.

We are delighted to have printed all of their Helly Hansen clothing for their 2015 campaign, from t-shirts to foul weather gear, and as these superb pictures by Mark Lloyd prove, they look sensational.

What a complete tool

When you're caught between a rock and a hard place, don't chance your arm with a blunt corporate gift - give them something handy.

A tool used to be a useful thing. A device to facilitate work, as the dictionary puts it, but somewhere in the not too distant past being a tool became a bad thing, and being a complete tool became a really rather rude thing.

We like complete tools (or multi-tools as it might be easier to call them), as they have always been an excellent corporate gift.  Swiss Army knives have a beautiful schoolboy style but are they a real 21st century weapon of choice? Probably a good thing the Swiss haven't had to fight a war for 500 years.

If you’re getting into some serious cutting, sawing and screwing you’ll be looking for something that packs a little more punch and that means a multi-tool.  And be in no doubt that these puppies can be properly useful when you’re caught between a rock and a hard place.

A few years ago, Aron Ralston, an American student was out tooling around in the Utah desert when he fell down a narrow canyon and managed to wedge his arm between a bolder and the canyon wall.  No one knew where he was or how badly he was stuck so he knew he was going to die a slow, dry death.  He probably felt a complete tool.

To cut a long story short he decided to escape by cutting off his own arm. Luckily he was armed with something very handy. He did have to break his radius and ulna bones by force, but the amputation itself only took an hour with the two inch blade of his trusty multi-tool.

Aron never named the manufacturer of the tool he used, other than to say it was a freebie type gift. Which sounds a little dismissive to us considering it saved him from looking like an utter tool – and a dead one at that.

The moral of this story is that a branded multi-tool is not just a gift that will be warmly received but one that could really save lives.  From Gerbers and Leathermen, to Swiss Army and more cost-effective brands, we can put your company’s good name on something that truly defines the whole idea of useful.  And your customers may have an awful lot to thank you for.

200 up? Then belt up.

With our friends at SLAM, we’ve recently made some rather snazzy and distinctly classy belts for the Royal Yacht Squadron’s bicentenary.  It’s not the only way to celebrate two hundred years of competitive sailing camaraderie, but we think it’s one of the most dapper.

“My belt holds my pants up, but the belt loops hold my belt up. I don’t know what’s happening down there. Which one’s the real hero?” Mitch Hedberg.

The belt Mitch.  Definitely the belt. The belt is the unsung hero of accessories, the unseen band that keeps us buckled up tight and neatly tucked in.

Everybody has a belt and every gent has a favourite belt. The real peacocks may even have several belts; dress, formal, casual, sporting and business.  Most of us have one, multi-role device that can be deployed on any and every trouser situation.

But who knew that a humble belt could be a powerful tool for building brand awareness and loyalty too (there’s a joke about customer retention in there somewhere)?  Who knew that there was such a thing as a celebratory belt?

Everyone knows the anniversary gift thing. First anniversary you get paper, fifth is wood, thirtieth is pearl, fiftieth gold and sixtieth diamond.  What is less well known is that 200 is a belt. Apparently.

With our friends at SLAM, we've recently made some rather snazzy and distinctly classy belts for the Royal Yacht Squadron’s bicentenary.  It’s not the only way to celebrate two hundred years of competitive sailing camaraderie, but we think it’s one of the most dapper.

Encircled in leather and fabric, the Squadron’s pennant is beautifully embroidered either side of the dates, and would be appropriate for any gentleman to wear at any occasion from weddings to bar mitzvahs.  It would even be rather fetching gift for the nautical lady.

The last word goes to that timeless fashion maven, Twiggy.  “Belts distract the eye from a bloated tummy, a heavy-set upper body and all manner of sins. They can be a superb way to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank, and there's no reason to stop wearing them, ever!”

Listen to Twiggy Mitch. The belt’s the hero.
